A Documentary in Five Chapters
Design &
Sewing Process
Scroll through the making of a HAS Handicrafts dress, from the first sketch to the last stitch. This page exists because we believe the process is as beautiful as the product.
Concept
Every dress begins as a conversation, with the client, the season, or a memory. Our designers work from sketchbooks before any fabric is touched. The concept phase can last days; we believe the drawing is half the dress.
Fabric Selection
We source fabric from mills we visit in person. Every roll is tested for weight, drape, and breathability before we consider it. Premium fabric is not the most expensive; it is the most honest.
Pattern Cutting
Pattern cutting is mathematics made tangible. Our cutters work on large floored workshops, using decades-old techniques alongside modern precision tools. Each cut is a commitment.
Hand Embroidery
Our embroiderers work by natural light whenever possible. A single dress can require 60 hours of threadwork. Every dot, every line, is placed by a human hand with a name and a story.
Final Fitting
The final fitting is where the dress meets its person. Adjustments are made with a tailor's eye and a maker's pride. Nothing leaves the studio until it is right.
